Prospects of NBA 2K22 on various platforms

Either of the two options will be better than the other, the latter further alienating the PC player base of NBA 2K21 and may continue to do so with introducing NBA 2K22.

Since Xbox Series X|S and PS5 available, 2K Games has been striving to separate a large segment from the game console market because of the combination of economic and production problems that the global pandemic has exacerbated. Whether it’s because they can’t find the console they want anywhere, or can’t afford it at all, many players can’t jump to the next generation even if they want. The exact number of the market percentage occupied by the current generation of game consoles is not yet known, but a recent report by Finbold showed that the combined sales of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S were only 13.72 million units.

VGChartz’s analysis of historical sales of game consoles shows that only PS4 and Xbox One have sold 165.91 million game consoles. Even without an exact number, this may mean that the number of players who can access the current generation of NBA 2K22 is over ten times the number of players who can access the next generation of NBA 2K22.

PC is still the black sheep of the next generation. Besides the PS4 and Xbox One being left behind as things develop, one unfortunate victim is PC gamers, who like games that are mainly built for consoles. When the next generation dominated and the precedent was to add additional NBA 2K22 MT to the next generation versions of games launched on current and next-generation consoles, somehow the PC bundled with the past, not the future. This is understandably frustrating for PC gamers, especially those who take PC games seriously, because ordinary modern gaming PCs can easily be as powerful as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, or even more powerful.

Over the years, PC technology and features have surpassed gaming consoles, which restricts games like NBA 2K21 and potentially NBA 2K22 only to the current generation of features on the PC even more confusing. During this transition period, there are indeed two ways to do better on PC. Either release only the next-generation version and increase the system requirements of the game, or release both the current and next-generation versions on PCs with different system requirements. Either of the two options will be better than the other, the latter further alienating the PC player base of NBA 2K21 and may continue to do so with introducing NBA 2K22.

If 2K players on various platforms want to get the latest and most direct NBA 2K22 information, they can follow the news of GameMS or UTnice. After 2K Games officially releases NBA 2K22, players can buy some cheap 2K22 MT to enjoy all kinds of new things.
