Peplum (or pepluhm) is a short gathered, flared strip of fabric that is attached to the waist of a woman's blouse, jacket, skirt or dress. For the premiere of Stillwater, a cross-cultural thriller set in Marseille, Cottin picked a classic black Dior dress with dramatic leg slits and a peplum-colored waist belt tied by stylist Eliott Bliss in a loop. She was accompanied by the Duke of Cambridge who wore a striking red peplum blouse to match the skirt, one of her favorite British designers.

Chest and waist should sit with a lot of ease at the hips. The back of the jacket should be lined up with the arms, but not as tight as some features would like. Polished, professional-looking dresses and plain tops work well.

The fit on the shoulders and the punch on the back feel great and look sharp. The chest is pulled up at the top of the jacket and thrown over the seam fastening, which works really well as I'm one size bigger, so there's more space on my belly and the material is draped down so it doesn't fit too big or badly. The fall is well balanced on my shoulders and creates a great silhouette.
