The arrival of FIFA 20 brings a lot of new content and features, and whether you're a veteran or a novice, you probably have some skills to master. Here, we share some applicable FIFA 20 passing skills to help you make planned, accurate and deliberate passes.
1). Planning passes and the right pace of the ball
Passes should be planned beforehand and performed in tempo so they land at their recipient without disturbing the fluidity of the game.
2). One-touch plays
One-touch plays involve performing quick short passes between the players who respond by kicking the ball back almost instantly. To perform such passes, use little force and aim accurately at the recipient. One-touch plays can be used in a very small space.
3). One Two Passes
These passes are also a great way to run past defenders and score goals. If you have a striker or a winger who is much faster than the enemy's defense, then it is best for you to perform this move.
4). Short ground pass
Short ground passes are the most often used move when in possession of the ball - when performed accurately, they are a key to success in FIFA 20. Direct short passes to players who are close to you, so the opponent cannot intercept the ball.
5). Long ground pass
Long ground passes are mostly used to carry the weight of the game to the other side of the pitch or to trigger a winger who will push the action forward. Before making such a pass, you need to be sure that it will reach its target since the large distance between the players creates a high risk of interception by the enemy team.
6). Through ground pass
A thorough ground pass to a running play is a great way to surprise an opponent's defender and get a good chance to score. Given the very high efficiency, perpendicular ground passes should be performed as often as possible, but when they are performed, it should be remembered that the force of such a pass is not too strong.
7). Precise through ground pass
A precise through the ground pass is a quick pass just above the ground, used to immediately shift the weight of the game to a wing or to send the ball through the enemy defense in the middle of the pitch. An accurate perpendicular pass is useful primarily during a counterattack.
8). Lob pass
Another classic move is performed by passing the ball in the air to a different player in order to transfer the weight of the game to another side of the pitch. Lob pass is extremely useful when performing offensive actions or counters. This play allows you to move the ball to a sector of the pitch which is less inhabited by enemy players, opening a way for an easy goal.
9). High Lob Passes
These passes are quite slow but may be useful to switch the play in defense.
10). Scooped Lob Passes
These are best used when the distance between players is short and requires around one bar of power.
11). Through ground lob pass
Through ground lob pass allows the players to skip one or even two enemy formations and create a dangerous situation. A perpendicular lob pass is used mainly to place the ball before or inside the penalty box to an incoming player to end up with a dangerous one on one situation with the goalkeeper.
12). Through Ball Passes
This requires around two to three bars of power and is best used in the final third when there is space in front of the receiver to run onto the ball.
13). Through Balls Are Still the King
This is something that has been consistent in FIFA games for a long time. By far the most offensive and the most fun pass in the game is the through ball.
14). Threaded Through Ball Passes
This provides a quicker, long through ball that is very hard to intercept. This requires around three and a half bars of power.
15). Lobbed Through Ball Passes
This requires around three bars of power and should be used if you think that a regular through-pass would be intercepted.
16). Backheel pass
Backheel pass is a great and often awesome way to play ball without losing momentum. It is mainly useful in case when you want the ball to back out or place it for a shot by another player. The backheel pass can also be used in the attack, however, you should remember that your player must be set back to the direction of the pass.
17). Driven Passes
This is also not a technique that is new but can be very effective. Driven passes are especially great for when you want to build counter attacks.
18). Cross When the Body Position Is Right, Not the Left Stick
When you are crossing, just make sure that your player is able to perform the natural swinging motion that goes along with crossing correctly. Nothing else is required, as you will not be changing many things using your Left Stick aim. Apart from that, just make sure there is a free receiver to receive your cross and you are good to go.
19). Flair Passes
This enables your player to perform backward passes (backheel passes) which are hidden from your opponents.
