What is a gemstone?

Gemstones are minerals that have been chosen for their beauty and durability, then they are cut and polished and then used as jewelry.

They are also known as gems, precious stones, jewels, or semi-precious stones.

Most gems are minerals, but some like pearl and amber are organics. Living organisms create these materials. A mineral is created inside the earth.

For gemstone buyers, durability and wearability is usually a high priority.

Most gemstones are hard but some soft minerals are used as jewels because of there luster and other physical properties. Uniqueness is another characteristic that provides value to gems.

The most popular gems are particularly delicate.

Pearls and opals have been valued as gems throughout history and across many cultures. These beautiful gems have chemical compositions that are different from other gems and need extra care before, during, and after cleaning.

Pearls in general last about duration as jewelry stones due to their timidity. The simple act of wiping off the dust will slowly wear away their coating. Perfumes or hairspray also stain or damage the pearls.

Opals are notoriously delicate, as they lose their water content, they may dry out and crack. They break with a modest bump. They are heat sensitive too.

Other than jewelry, gems were used on cups, and showpieces or as on decorative items. Several gemstones are used as gems in the form they are found, whereas,  most are cut and polished for the use as a jewelry piece.

Emerald Gemstone, Sapphire Stone, Topaz Stone, and Diamonds are the most common gemstones.

In modern days, gemstones are mostly used as ornamental purposes. Nevertheless, people still believe that health benefits are received from certain gemstones and minerals, some also use gemstones to restore energy fields, peace, and love.

Cz Stones

Cubic zirconia is synthetic stones and colorless gemstone made up of a cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide. Cubic Zirconia is extremely rare. Zirconia is hard and is usually colorless, but could be made in a variety of different colors. Because of its durability, a lookalike to diamond, and low-cost Cz Stones have been an economically important competitor to diamonds.

Zirconia is made by melting the zirconium oxide powder with magnesium and calcium at 4982’F. After being removed from the heat, crystals form and stabilize. The crystals are then cut and polished.

Cubic zirconia is a manmade gemstone, but it should not be considered as diamonds, by experts or non-experts. They are entirely different from each other.

Diamonds are naturally formed and Cz Stones are lab-created. Cz Stones lack brilliance and lasting-beauty.

The grade of AAA cubic zirconia is affected by the color, quality, and cut. The AAA rating is the most admired class for excellent fashion jewelry. An AAA-rated Cubic zirconia will excel in a lower-grade piece in symmetry, luster, and shine.

White Cubic Zirconia is purely colorless, it is not as durable as diamonds, and it is to be scratched with time. If you cannot budget a diamond ring, White Zirconia is a good alternative, for a short time though. Even it gets scratched, it is inexpensive enough, so you can replace it without a headache.
